A Century on Redwood Road: The Domichel Family Legacy

Anton & Mary Domichel: Pioneers of Redwood rd

Anton and Mary Domichel, both born in Italy, immigrated to Utah and in 1912 purchased farmland on 3100 South Redwood Road. Hardworking and dedicated, they established a thriving farm and became active members of their community. Their three sons—Frank, Albert, and William—grew up immersed in farm life, learning the values of diligence, responsibility, and family unity. Over the decades, the Domichel farm evolved into the bustling stretch of Redwood Road lined with businesses, yet the legacy of Anton and Mary lives on. Though little remains physically of the original homestead, the memory of their pioneering spirit and contributions to the community endures.

I was thrilled to discover these wonderful photographs of the Domichel Homestead, captured from the south and west corner of 3100 South and Redwood Road. I drove by the old barn countless times, always admiring the outbuildings, farm equipment, and the character of the property. Seeing these images brings back the majesty of a place I have missed since it was demolished and transformed into a commercial area. I hope you enjoy this rare glimpse into a cherished piece of local history.
