Rolling Back Time: Our Tribute to the Redwood Drive-In
Celebrating 70 Years of the Redwood Drive-In – Our 2019 WestFest Parade Float
In 2019, we proudly celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Redwood Drive-In, a cherished part of our community’s history. Though the drive-in was sadly demolished in 2025, its legacy lives on in the memories of those who gathered to honor it—and especially in the joyful WestFest Community Parade that year.
For the first time, we had a true community history float! Gary and Teddie Warr graciously provided their truck, which was transformed into a replica drive-in screen, complete with an image of the very first movie ever shown there. Mark Webb followed close behind in his fabulous vintage convertible, complete with authentic drive-in speakers and even a pair of classic 3-D glasses. And who could forget “Freddie,” the dummy we snuck into the trunk—just like so many tried back in the day!
This celebration wouldn’t have been possible without the generous and creative support of many. A heartfelt thank you to:
Teddie and Gary Warr – for driving the float and bringing the vision to life
Mark Webb – for his convertible, speakers, and perfect nostalgic touch
Shaun and Denise Bingham Haslam – for donating the custom graphics
Doreen Harmon and Harmons Grocery – for their generous donations
Andy and Clark, our Midvale history friends – for loaning precious original drive-in speakers that will now be part of future history displays
Thank you to everyone who made that day possible. Long live West Valley History!
