AA Callister’s: A Western Tradition Since 1952
Remembering AA Callister’s: A True Western Legacy on Redwood Road
Located at 3615 South Redwood Road, the store—known over the years as Callister Saddlery, Callister Vet Supply/Wool, and simply AA Callister’s—had deep roots in Utah’s western heritage. It all began in 1952, when Arthur A. Callister and his father started trading wool from a small shop on the same site. As they listened to customers' needs, the business grew into one of the finest western wear and tack shops in the region.
In 1998, a beautiful new store was built on the Callister property, designed to look like it stepped right out of a classic Western movie. With its Old West charm, the building features 40,000 square feet of retail space dedicated entirely to Western wear. Guests are even greeted by horses at the door, setting the perfect country atmosphere. Inside, the store carried everything you could imagine to keep your country lifestyle alive and thriving. From handcrafted saddles and cowboy boots to quality tack, clothing, and home décor, AA Callister’s proudly carried the traditions, lifestyle, and spirit of the American West. For over six decades, it remained family-owned and community-loved, a place where generations of riders and ranchers found the gear they trusted—and a little piece of cowboy heritage to take home.
After more than 67 years of outfitting cowboys and country folk alike, A.A. Callister’s — a true Western icon — closed its doors in fall 2019, leaving behind a legacy of boots, saddles, and hometown tradition.
