Granger Christian Church feeds hundreds with NOURISHING food for the body— and spiritual food for the soul."

Granger Christian Church: A Welcoming Light in the Community

Located at 3232 W. 4100 South in West Valley City, Granger Christian Church—part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)—has been faithfully serving the community since relocating here in 2007. First established in 1957 as the first Protestant church west of the Jordan River, Granger Christian continues to uphold its founding mission of service, worship, and inclusion.

As Disciples of Christ, members of the congregation believe they are called to care not only for one another, but for the wider community. With that in mind, Granger Christian Church actively supports Project Cornucopia: Promoting Community, and partners weekly with the Utah Food Bank to provide food and support to hundreds of families across the Salt Lake Valley.

“One of our goals is to reach out to everyone,” say church leaders. “We’re inviting all people to join us in worship and in service. Christ welcomes us all, and so do we.”

Led by Rev. José Morales, the church embraces an ethnically diverse congregation including members who are white, Black, Hispanic, Tongan, Cambodian, and Native American—reflecting the beautiful diversity of West Valley City. With a strong emphasis on community outreach and open communion, Granger Christian Church welcomes people from all walks of life to its services and programs.

“Every day I wake up and get to do something I believe in,” says Rev. Morales. “We’ve been given a great task: to serve and transform our community.”

Founded in the early 1800s in the United States, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was born from a desire to move beyond denominational boundaries and return to the spirit of unity found in the New Testament. True to that mission, Granger Christian Church offers an open table, lay-led ministries, and a commitment to spiritual growth through study, fellowship, and compassionate action.

They provide a weekly Food Bank to the community

This was taken a few months ago. I try to make a monthly donation-

I am so impressed with the items available

My nonprofit delivers items to area foodbanks. Here is a picture of my delivery that day to them. Their room is overflowing with items for the needy

They are always excited when I bring donations for their Community Food Bank. They provide for almost 1,000 needy people each week
