Preserving the Past: Del Anderson’s Final Gift to the Community
A Gift of History: Del Anderson’s Legacy Continues
Even after his passing in 2025, Delmas “Del” Anderson’s love for Granger and West Valley City continues to bless the community he cared so deeply about.
Del spent a lifetime serving others — strengthening neighborhoods, volunteering for city programs, preserving community pride, and helping make West Valley City a better place to live. Following his passing, Del’s family made a thoughtful and meaningful donation to the future West Valley Museum and historical collection by generously sharing items that reflected both his life and the history he valued.
Among the donated treasures were West Valley City commemorative pins, cherished 2002 Winter Olympic memorabilia, and several Granger High School yearbooks. These items arrived at an especially meaningful time. As West Valley City history volunteers prepare a future Olympic display, there has been a great need to expand collections related to the 2002 Winter Olympics — especially now that Utah will again host the Winter Olympics in 2034, just eight years from now. Del’s Olympic keepsakes will help preserve and tell the story of Utah’s Olympic history for future generations.
The donation of Granger High School yearbooks was equally important. Efforts are underway to complete missing yearbooks for historical displays and preservation so residents, alumni, and future generations can reconnect with memories, classmates, sports, clubs, and student life from Granger’s past. Del, himself a Granger High School graduate, helped strengthen that effort through his family’s generosity.
The donation is more than a collection of historical objects — it is a continuation of Del’s lifelong spirit of service. Even after his passing, his love for community continues to make a difference. Through the kindness of his family, important pieces of West Valley City history that may otherwise have been lost will now help educate, inspire, and connect future generations.
We extend sincere gratitude to Del’s family for helping preserve our shared story. Del believed deeply in community, connection, and remembering the past. It seems fitting that even now, he is still helping build something meaningful for the people of West Valley City.
Thank you, Del. Your legacy of service continues.
