A Perfect Partnership: Anast, Hardman & Molen Build Granger’s Future

Growing with Granger – 1964
In December 1964, the community was invited to tour the new business buildings constructed around 1900 West and 3500 South, reflecting Granger’s growth and promise. Owner George Anast who owned Granger Market, developed the property, proudly announced: “In obtaining Ron Molen as my architect and Research Homes, Inc. as builders, I feel this area can be outstanding.”

The new facilities included:

  • Mar-Dees Ice Cream – 1979 West 3500 South

  • Lynn Broadhead Automotive – 2125 West 3500 South

  • Granger Upholstery - 2055 West 3500 South

  • Byron Mackay’s Barber Shop – 1969 West 3500 South

  • Baker’s Marine & Sport Shop - 2015 West 3500 South

  • Alteration & Dry Cleaning- 2001 West 3500 South

Christmas 1964, Anast welcomed neighbors to “drop in and see our new facilities” and extended a warm holiday greeting: “Merry Christmas – we hope to serve you during the coming year.”

These businesses were the first of many planned, setting a high standard by Ron Molen as Architect and Vern Hardman/Research Homes as builder.
