Located on 4300 West just north of 3500 South, Monroe Gardens is a charming subdivision developed in 1953. With 22 lots in total, eighteen homes were built on this land in or before 1958, showcasing the architectural styles of the era.

The homes in Monroe Gardens are predominantly Minimal Traditional style, reflecting the practical and modest designs popular in the post-war period. Constructed with brick or masonite siding, these houses exhibit a variety of floor plans, giving the neighborhood a distinctive character.

Over time, many of the original masonite sidings have been covered with vinyl, a common update that has altered the original exterior appearances. Interestingly, one or two homes in Monroe Gardens may actually predate the official subdivision, suggesting a deeper history embedded in this community.
