1975-76 Menu from The Oaken Bucket
The Oaken Bucket was one of the most delicious restaurants in the state.
We loved the food- We loved the atmosphere -We loved the owners
We loved the legendary Clam Chowder and freshest food. The meat was always the finest cuts and quality superb.
The Oaken Bucket wasn’t just a restaurant—it was a celebration of West Valley’s neighborhoods, stitched lovingly into the pages of its menu. Owned by Senator Bill Barton and located at 3535 W 3500 South, this cozy sit-down spot brought more than tablecloths and candlelight to the west side—it served up heartwarming dishes with names that made locals smile.
Each item on the menu held a little piece of the community: the Bennion Beef Dip, Kearns Klub, Taylorsville Tuna, and Hunter Ham & Cheese weren’t just meals—they were a nod to the streets and towns that made up West Valley’s identity. Whether you were digging into the Granger Ground Beef or the signature Magna Belt, there was a sense of familiarity and hometown pride on every plate.
Even the Market Street Salad gave a wink to Utah's favorite shopping spots. The playful, meaningful names were part of what made The Oaken Bucket more than a place to eat—it was a place that reminded you where you belonged.
Today, the building may house a Macey’s grocery store, Carl’s Jr and other items in the strip-mall ,but the memory of The Oaken Bucket—its charm, warmth, and deliciously local flair—lives on in the hearts of those who dined there.
