Mosquito Diamonds Fence
Mosquito Diamonds: A Field Built by Community Hands
Baseball has always been close to the heart of our Granger community. The old Stansbury/Hillsdale field — better known to locals as “Mosquito Diamonds” — was more than just a baseball field. It was a symbol of neighbors working side by side to make sure our kids had a place to play.
One great example of that dedication happened in the spring of 1963. The Granger Jaycees took on the challenge of building an infield fence for the WBBA ballfield at 3600 West and 3100 South. This fence didn’t come from property tax dollars — it came from the hard work of volunteers and the generosity of local businesses.
Merchants in the Granger area proudly backed the Jaycees’ effort. Their advertisements were displayed right on the home-run fence — each sign a reminder that this field truly belonged to the people who built it.
A big thank you goes to those who helped raise the funds, pound the posts, and support the boys who played there. It wasn’t just a fence — it was proof of what a strong community can do when it works together.
