From Old to New: The Story of Fire Station #72 on 41st
Fire Station #72: Then and Now
The original Fire Station #72 served West Valley City for decades before being demolished in 2018 to make way for a modern replacement. From the ground up, the new station was carefully designed to meet the growing needs of the community and provide space for future expansion.
Located at 4314 W. 4100 South, the station officially opened its doors with a public open house on October 16, 2018. The event featured remarks by city leaders and Fire Chief John Evans, tours of the new facility, and refreshments for the community.
The new Station #72 now houses:
- Three-staff fire engine
- Two-staff ambulance
- Brush truck for grass and wildland fires
More than just new equipment, the station brought long-needed improvements, including appropriate facilities for female firefighters—something the old building lacked. Its central location allows faster response to residents across the heart of West Valley City and provides the ability to house additional apparatus as the city continues to grow.
Station #72’s dedication to service reflects the progress of the department as a whole—joining Station #76, which was also brought online in June 2018 to serve the southwest area of the city.
From its humble beginnings to its modern rebuild, Station #72 stands as a symbol of preparedness, progress, and pride in serving the people of West Valley City.
