Doris Hardy: Utah’s First Lady of Charm and Confidence

Her studio was located 1675 West 500 South

In an era when refinement, grace, and personal poise were treasured assets, Mrs. Doris Hardy emerged as a most distinguished leader in the cultivation of womanly charm and personal improvement. A native daughter of Salt Lake, Mrs. Hardy commenced her modeling endeavors in the early 1940s and soon became one of Utah’s most celebrated fashion consultants. Her licensed charm and modeling schools offered young ladies—and gentlemen—a comprehensive course of instruction in personality, grooming, figure contour, etiquette, and stage deportment. With grace, dignity, and expertise, Mrs. Hardy trained countless aspiring models and citizens in the art of self-betterment. Her Granger studio at Beau Belle Health Studios provided an elegant and modern setting for such advancement, including a reception parlor, makeup and consulting rooms, dressing chambers, and a lecture hall. Mrs. Hardy was also a beloved voice and visage on radio and television, where her program, Sandman Stories with Doris Hardy, aired twice weekly on KDYL. With studios throughout Utah—including Ogden, Tooele, Salt Lake, and Granger—Mrs. Hardy devoted her life to instilling confidence, composure, and class in the lives of many.

Long before social media influencers, Doris Hardy was empowering Utahns to love themselves, carry confidence, and shine with personal style—making her a true pioneer of self-image, inner strength, and outward grace.
