A West Side First: Valley Junior High – 1949 Inaugural Faculty
In 1949, the west side of the Salt Lake Valley reached a major milestone with the opening of its very first junior high school — Valley Junior High in Granger, Utah.
Principal Claude C. Lemmon led the school into a new era of education for grades 7–9, offering a transitional learning experience between elementary and high school for the first time in the area’s history.
