Don W. Feller and Feller Freezer & Meat: A Granger Legacy

At 1638 West 3500 South, nestled in the heart of the Granger community, stood a business that served generations of local families: Feller Freezer and Meat. This locally run meat packing plant and custom processing shop was owned and operated by Don W. Feller, a man deeply rooted in faith, service, and hard work. For decades, his shop provided everything from butchering and freezer storage to friendly conversation and trusted service—especially valued in the days when many Granger residents raised their own livestock or relied on small-scale, community-focused meat processors.

Born January 8, 1921, in Bountiful, Utah, Don Feller grew up with the values that would define both his personal life and business. After graduating from Davis High School, he served honorably in the U.S. Naval Air Corps during World War II, rising to the rank of Lieutenant J.G. He was one of the Navy’s earliest instrument flight instructors and trained both American and French pilots during the war—a contribution that placed him at the forefront of aviation advancement in his time.

After the war, Don married Glenna Robins, his beloved wife and lifelong companion, and together they built a life grounded in service, self-reliance, and family. In the growing postwar community of Granger, Utah, Don established Feller Freezer and Meat, where he combined his practical skills with integrity and personal care. Farmers and residents throughout the valley came to rely on Don’s shop for quality meat processing, cold storage, and custom cuts. At a time when local food production was common, Don played a vital role in keeping food fresh, affordable, and close to home.

Beyond business, Don Feller was a man of deep faith and family devotion. A dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a Member Location Mission in St. George and remained a lifelong student of the gospel. He passed on to his six children a legacy of reverence for the outdoors, a love of gardening, and a powerful testimony of Jesus Christ.

After retiring from Feller Freezer in 1982, Don and Glenna moved to Baja, California, where he spent his final years listening to the ocean and enjoying the peace he had earned. He passed away on October 12, 2006, surrounded by his loved ones.

Today, the old address on 3500 South serves as a quiet reminder of a time when family-run businesses were the backbone of Granger. The story of Don W. Feller is not only one of military honor and entrepreneurial spirit but also of quiet dedication to community, faith, and family. This building was built in 1934 and renovated in 1954
