Fifty Years on Redwood cutting hair: The Dabalos Legacy
Tony & Tina Dabalos – Redwood Barber Shop
Antonio “Tony” Dabalos (1922–2000) was born in Wyoming and later settled in Utah, where he and his wife, Tina Montoya Dabalos (1926–1997), built both a family and a lasting community business. Tina was born in Colorado, and like Tony, spent part of her early life in Wyoming before moving to Utah.
The couple made their home at 2569 S. Redwood Road in Salt Lake County, where they also established the Redwood Barber Shop. Both Tony and Tina worked side by side as barbers, serving customers with skill and friendship. Their shop became a neighborhood landmark, known for its welcoming atmosphere and for the care they gave to each person who sat in their chairs.
The Redwood Barber Shop remained open for over 50 years, a true testament to their hard work, dedication, and partnership. Together, Tony and Tina left behind a legacy of community service, family devotion, and small-business pride that is still remembered by longtime residents.
