From Bawden Homestead to Landmark Design: The Legacy of 4209 West 3500 South
4209 West 3500 South: From Family Homestead to Architectural Landmark
This address was once the site of a beautiful home that belonged to Annie Wallace Bawden and her husband Willard Bawden, where they raised their seven children. As the Granger area grew and changed, the home eventually gave way to progress—but its legacy lives on through inspired design.
In its place, hometown architect J. Leonard Harman, known as "The Flying Architect," designed a striking office building that still stands today. Characterized by Leonard’s signature flying gables, the building is a testament to his enduring architectural style and vision.
Today, the site continues to serve the community, housing Sid’s Hairstyling, California Audio, and two popular restaurants: Antojitos El Colocho and Mariscos.
