The area along 3500 South, at 4000 West, has a rich history of serving the Salt Lake Valley community in many ways. It corner began as the site of the original Monroe School, a cornerstone of education for local children. It was torn down in 1972
To the west of the school change was happening: 4090 West 3500 south
In 1965, an A&W Restaurant was built on the site, serving the community and becoming a popular gathering place.
In the 1970s, the location became home to Buddy’s Drive-Thru Restaurant, a beloved eatery that served everything from tacos to burgers.
In 1980, it became Gus Paulos Chevrolet, serving generations of car buyers. Today, the site continues its automotive legacy as the Salt Lake Valley Chevrolet dealership, demonstrating the enduring adaptability of this corner and its ongoing role in the life of the community.
