The Granger name worn with Pride on Market Street: Introducing Granger Orthodontics
Granger Orthodontics: A Historic Name in a Historic Location
Featuring Dr. Micah Mortensen
In a city overflowing with rich history and beloved local landmarks, it feels perfectly fitting that West Valley’s premier orthodontic practice carries a name deeply rooted in our community’s past: Granger Orthodontics.
Located right on historic Market Street, Dr. Micah Mortensen’s office sits in one of the most meaningful corners of old Granger—mere steps away from where the Granger Merc, Sprouse Reitz, and the Sears Catalog Store once bustled with shoppers. Just down the way stood Dr. Wilson’s original medical office, the birthplace of Granger’s early healthcare.
Today, in a beautiful new six-story medical building adjacent to West Valley City Hall, Granger Orthodontics stands as the perfect blend of modern care and historic pride—a practice with contemporary expertise but a name and location that honor the neighborhood’s origins.

Dr. Mortensen is a Utah native, raised right next door in Taylorsville a Taylorsville Warrior and is a second-generation dentist.
The Keyhole: Where Dr. Mortensen’s Humor Began
He also carries a fun bit of local folklore—growing up wandering Valley Fair Mall, he remembers staring longingly at the Ninja Throwing Stars inside The Keyhole but never getting one. His uncle eventually bought him nunchucks instead, but that still didn’t satisfy the innocent childhood dream of owning a ninja star—not to use it, of course, but simply to impress the other kids. After all, half the elementary boys had one tucked in their pocket as their unofficial badge of membership in the “Keyhole Posse.”
And honestly, it probably explains a lot.
Dr. Mortensen is a natural-born jokester—one of those people who could have easily become a professional entertainer if dentistry hadn’t claimed him first. He always has a joke, a one-liner, or a hilarious story ready to go, and his timing is perfect. His Instagram posts alone will have you in stitches.
Some say it’s his personality…..Some say it’s a gift.
But those of us who know the history suspect the truth: a childhood spent hanging around The Keyhole infused him with a lifetime supply of mischief, humor, and perfectly timed pranks.
