Breakfast at the End of the Rainbow: Ogie’s Café
Yesterday I snapped a photo of Ogie’s Café with a rainbow stretching right above it—like the café itself was the pot of gold at the rainbow’s end. That picture captures the feeling so many of us have about Ogie’s: it’s a treasure.
That picture captures the feeling so many of us have about Ogie’s: it’s a treasure. Since the 1980s, the café has been a gathering place where Karen’s warm presence (she passed in 1991) and Bill’s steady hand shaped its heart. Though Bill is now retired, he still stops in a few times each month to visit and help. The children have taken over, keeping everything just the way their parents built it—down to the recipes and the welcoming spirit.
Ogie’s has always been about more than just food, but the food is unforgettable. From hearty breakfasts stacked high, to lunches and BRUNCHES served in large, delicious portions, the menu has stayed true to its roots. Regulars know they’ll always get the same generous, home-style meals they’ve loved since the ’80s—comfort on a plate. The family also once owned John’s Place in Midvale during the ’80s and ’90s, but while that café is gone, Ogie’s continues to thrive. With each plate served, it still feels like home—and now, thanks to that rainbow, it feels like magic too.
